Every home has a bedroom and the majority of homes have more
than one. We have discussed how to save energy in the lounge and utility room
with our appliances, but stage three is all about saving energy in the room
where we rest our weary heads at night.
You may think that there is
not much going on in terms of energy usage in the bedroom, a couple of sockets
and a single light perhaps. We live in the twenty-first century now, who
doesn't have a television and maybe a set-top box installed? We do not need to
carry out inspections in every bedroom throughout the land to realize that the
“second” television for the house is in the bedroom. The emergency or back-up
television for when the husband has football on in the front room. Astandby killer will
disconnect the electrical supply to your TV and entertainment systems when you
switch them off using the remote control.
Try not to leave your lights
and bedside lamps on when the room is not occupied, and don’t leave your mobile
phone charging overnight. If you do find that charging your phone during the
night is convenient for you, there are gadgets out there that disconnect the
mains supply to your phone once it is fully charged. Remote control sockets will allow you to easily switch off
your lamps and electrical gadgets.
What light bulbs do you
have in your light fitting and bedside lamps? Swapping them for the LED
alternatives will save you a small
fortune on your lighting bills.
